Even after her parents eventually found stable, stay-at-home jobs and no longer needed help with childcare, Alice still made regular visits to Bill’s home. His little house, with its creaky wooden floors and warm scent of cinnamon and old books, felt like her second home.

The room filled with applause, but Bill just smiled and nodded. He didn’t need the spotlight—his legacy lived in the hearts of the people he loved.
